Auto-Generated Reference Numbers
When the project has an active numbering format, reference numbers are generated automatically when creating documents.
How It Works
- The project administrator configures a format template with placeholders (e.g.,
{ORIGINATOR}-{RECIPIENT}-{YEAR}-{TYPE}-{FIELD:Discipline}-{SERIAL}-{REV}). - When you create a document and fill in all required type fields, the system resolves the placeholders and generates the reference.
- A live preview appears on the creation form before you submit.
- Serial numbers auto-increment independently for each unique combination of resolved placeholders (e.g., each document type + discipline combination has its own counter).
- Revisions inherit the serial number from the original document and only change the revision portion.

{SERIAL} or {SERIAL:4} | Auto-incremented serial number with optional zero-padding |
